On May 6, 2017, on the grounds of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Rockford, IL, the Sinnissippi Tuath Grove, ADF will again present a Beltane Festival. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the day with us.
The day will start at 9:30AM with an opening blessing, and then games and workshops in the morning. Workshops will include an introduction to Druidism and Druid ritual as practiced by our Grove, and a song and chant workshop for the ritual for those interested in practicing them.
At noon we will have a potluck lunch – please bring a dish to share (picnic-type foods) and your own place settings, and maybe a picnic blanket to put on the ground to sit on.
At about 1:00 pm we will assemble the Maypole, and we will learn how the Maypole dance is performed. The Maypole dance will be performed during the rite.
Just before our rite, at 2:00 PM, Oengus will conduct a praise offerings workshop, and pre ritual briefing.
Our Beltane Rite will begin at 3:00 PM. Our Deities of the Occasion are Danu, Mother of All, and An Daghda, great Father God and God of Plenty. During our rite we will have time for individuals to make offerings, to the Ancestors, Noble Folk, Gods and Goddesses as you are inspired.
There will be ample time during the day for relaxation and fellowship. The closing blessing is at 5:00 PM with clean up and site closing between 4:00PM and 5:00PM.
All are welcome! See you there!
