The ADF recognizes that Spring Equinox falls on or near March 21st, and is a celebration of the lengthening days, the greening of the earth, and other common cross-cultural images associated with life returning!

Farewell To Winter!

We will be celebrating in the Slavic style with a Maslenitsa ritual, honoring green Jarillo and gentle Perperuna as the deities of the occasion. We will also banish winter with an effigy doll and bless seeds, as is a custom of many regions when celebrating during this time.

The effigy, known as Maslenitsa, represents the cold Winter.

The Earth Mother, in Slavic traditions, is called Mati Syra Zemlya.

We look forward to seeing you at our celebration of life, warmth, and happiness! Please feel free to visit our Facebook event and RSVP if you plan to make it this evening. For more information on any of the deities listed above, click on their name or start up a conversation in the comments below.
